It was published according to the text found in Volume X of T. Navasardyants’s “Armenian Folk Tales” (T. Navasardyants, Armenian Folk Tales, Volume X, Tiflis, 1903, pp. 45–73).
Under the title of the tale, it is noted in parentheses: in the Lori dialect. The publisher, T. Navasardyants, reports that this tale was recorded by Anushavan Abovyan in the village of Odzun in the Lori district and sent to him. No information is provided about the storyteller or the circumstances of the recording. It is known, however, that the tale must have been recorded before 1903.
