In early twentieth-century Baku, in the home of the wealthy Sharbabchyan family, everyday quarrels and anxieties over money reveal the family members’ differing personalities and values. Samvel, the family’s youngest son, challenges conventional views on poverty, justice, and human dignity through his unexpected behavior. Humor and a critique of social inequality are interwoven into this portrayal of family relationships.
